International Children's Day, also known as "International Children's Day", falls on June 1 every year and is a festival for children all over the world. Russia, Indonesia, North Korea, Cambodia, South Africa and other countries also celebrate June 1st as Children's Day; Some countries set up Children's Day according to their own conditions, such as Türkiye on April 23 and India on November 14; Japan has established Children's Day (May 5th) and Girls' Day (March 3rd), while countries such as Canada have designated November 20th as their national holiday, World Children's Day.
In June 1942, during World War II, German fascists shot and killed male citizens over the age of 16 in the village of Lidice in Czechoslovakia, and transported women and children to concentration camps. 88 children died in gas chambers. In order to mourn the children who died in Lidice Village and the world during the fascist invasion war, and to safeguard their rights to survival, healthcare, and education, the International Democratic Women's Federation held a council meeting in Moscow in November 1949 and officially designated June 1st as International Children's Day. After the establishment of the People's Republic of China, the State Council of the Central People's Government decided on December 23, 1949 to designate June 1 as Children's Day. On March 30, 1950, the Ministry of Education announced the abolition of "Children's Day on April 4th" and designated June 1st as Children's Day.
The celebration methods of Children's Day in various countries around the world also have their own characteristics, reflecting the traditions and customs of different countries, and overflowing with joy and vitality. China will hold celebration events, leaders' inscriptions, cultural performances, and provide preferential social services for children. Japan hangs carp flags, Spain holds float parades, South Korea celebrates the May Festival, African countries have the Children's Carnival, and Islamic countries have the Candy Festival, showcasing the unique charm of different cultures. The annual International Children's Day plays a positive role in promoting children's growth, seeking their welfare, and safeguarding their rights, becoming an important cultural symbol of global attention to children's development.
